● Caring Contact: 908.232.2880: Caring Contact is an award-winning, volunteer-staffed caring and crisis hotline and listening community for all ages. They provide active listening support and best-in-class education to the Central and Northern New Jersey community. Available seven days a week between 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
● The 2nd Floor youth helpline 1-888-222-2228, or text at 888-222-2228 : 2NDFLOOR is a confidential and anonymous helpline for New Jersey's youth and young adults (ages 10-24). They help find solutions to problems and are available 24/7, 365 days a year.
● Peer Recovery Warm Line 877-292-5588 : A peer-run service providing ongoing telephone support to individuals with mental health conditions as they work towards their recovery.
● Trevor Project 1-866-488-7386 : Leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25. Trained counselors available 24/7.
● Vet2Vet 1-866-838-7654 (1-866-VETS-NJ-4): Provides 24-hour support to New Jersey National Guard members, active military personnel, veterans, their families, and caregivers, statewide.
● Cop2Cop 1-866-Cop-2COP: Free and confidential 24-hour telephone Helpline in NJ. It is available exclusively for law enforcement officers and their families to help deal with personal or job related stress and behavioral healthcare issues.
● Mom2Mom 1-877-914-6662 (1-877-914-MOM2): Statewide program that offers peer support to mothers of children with special needs, available 24/7.
● Care2Caregivers 1-800-424-2494: A free, confidential help line for anyone concerned about or caring for someone with memory issues. The compassionate and knowledgeable staff are available to help you navigate the challenges of caregiving.

● NJ Children’s System of Care (CSOC): 1-877-652-7624 : CSOC is the single point of entry for all children, adolescents, and young adults (up to age 21) who are in need of behavioral health, developmental and intellectual disability, or certain substance use treatment services. CSOC includes mobile crisis response that provides face-to-face response within one hour of notification to help stabilize behavior and preserve the child’s ability to remain in the home. Available 24/7.
● Family Support Organization of Bergen County: (201) 796-6209: FSO of Bergen County exists to provide support, advocacy, and education to families, caregivers, and providers of children with mental, emotional, and behavioral needs.
● Bergen County – Early Intervention Support Services (EISS): Funded by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and available in all counties, EISS is a short term, mental health service for adults who are experiencing significant emotional or psychiatric distress and are in need of immediate intervention. EISS offers crisis intervention and crisis stabilization services in a setting that is an alternative to hospital based emergency room treatment.

● Bergen County – Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS): Funded by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services and available in all counties, IFSS is a range of supportive activities designed to improve the quality of life for families with a mentally ill relative. Family members and professionals work collaboratively to provide each family with the knowledge, skills and supports they identify as useful to the family’s overall functioning and sense of control.

The Bergen County and the Family Support Organization of Bergen County websites offer various information, resources, guides, programs, and events throughout the Bergen
County area for parents, students, families, and communities on various topics, including but not limited to mental illness, domestic violence, and substance abuse.
New Jersey Department of Education Resources
To support schools in their efforts to promote suicide prevention, the NJDOE developed and continuously maintains the Suicide & Other Traumatic Loss Events webpage. Schools and districts may visit this page to explore tools, approaches and best practices when preparing to address this sensitive topic. The following resources may be helpful in developing materials and activities, communicating with parents and delivering trainings:

Care Plus NJ, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which provides comprehensive, recovery-focused mental health and substance abuse services on a voluntary outpatient basis to adults and children. They provide a wide-array of services and programs for a comprehensive approach to aid in recovery from substance abuse and mental illness. They have a total of 23 sites, including 10 residential facilities, offices at 3 hospitals, and 7 community offices throughout the state of NJ. They offer acute care services, sub-acute and community services, client support services, and children and family services.

Hearts and Crafts Counseling is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which provides individual and group counseling services to children, teens, and adults dealing with the challenges associated with, but not limited to, bereavement, illness, divorce., school issues, abuse, diabetes. anxiety, depression, parenting, bullying, eating disorders, or men’s issues.

West Bergen Center for Children and Youth is full-range community mental health center. With offices in 4 different towns in Bergen County, this center consists of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and LCSW’s. They offer their services on a sliding scale basis and can accommodate families with limited financial means. They provide individual, group, and family counseling and have groups tailored for anger management, anxiety, social skills, divorce, Asperger’s, ADHD, depression, and substance abuse.
